1) How long should my child study for the ISEE?
We recommend a prep plan of a minimum of 10-12 weeks with 1.5–2 hours of tutoring per week, plus practice between sessions. Many ISEE math concepts are above grade level, including advanced arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data interpretation. Our tutors use targeted lessons and step-by-step instruction to help students master material, build problem-solving skills, and gain confidence under timed conditions. Students aiming for competitive schools or top scores often start earlier to allow extra time for skill-building and multiple practice tests.
2) Is the ISEE offered online or in-person?
The ISEE is offered both online (at home) and on paper in-person at a testing center, or at school. The in-person test allows for highlighting, note-taking, and physical test strategies, while the online version may work better for students who focus best in a familiar environment.
3) How is the ISEE different from the SSAT?
The ISEE emphasizes mathematical reasoning and vocabulary, while the SSAT focuses more on analytical reading and verbal analogies.
4) When should we start ISEE tutoring?
Most students begin tutoring in the summer or early fall before their testing season. We also offer intensive short-term prep for students testing sooner.
5) Does Kscholastic provide all materials?
Yes! Our ISEE Prep Program includes comprehensive prep books, guided practice packets, diagnostic tests, and detailed reviews.
6) What do I need to bring on test day?
Tip: Arrive at least 30 minutes early to the testing center.
7) How are ISEE scores reported?
Students receive:
A score between 1–3 is below average, meaning your score is in the bottom 25%
A score between 4–6 is average and represents the middle 50% of test-takers
A score between 7–9 is above average, meaning your score is in the top 75%.
Note: The essay is not scored but is sent directly to schools. You cannot superscore the ISEE or send schools individual sections; the entire test report is submitted.
